Hidden amidst plush greenery at its inaugural branch, Min Jiang @One-North is reminiscent of the colonial era. As we made our way into the tastefully decorated interior, we felt instinctively at home with a poignant sense of East-Western familiarity.
In anticipation of the forthcoming National Day festivities, Master Chef Goh prepared a concoction of heritage delights to be featured from 1 July to 31 August 2017. The delightful culinary experience commenced with the Heritage Treasures Platter ($108 for 6 persons; $180 for 10 persons). This impressionable dish is a combination of mouth-watering appetisers that prepares a diner for more to come.
Worthy of mention is the Braised Wuxi spare ribs which is carefully deboned to create a sense of tenderness and affection.
The Double-boiled Whole Winter Melon with Eight Treasures ($80 for 4-6 persons) provides a wholesome goodness and a much anticipated respite from the tropical heat.
We were next served with the exquisite Golden Fortune Kampong Chicken ($80) which is painstakingly baked to perfection. Enclosed in a flour exterior which had to be smashed by a mallet, the dish is magically crafted and presented.
A savoury treat came in form of the Stir-fried Crabmeat and Egg White in Yam Ring ($24). With a touch of vinegar, the dish leaves a lasting impression on the taste-buds.
Patrons can select from a choice of indoor and outdoor seating. The latter is particularly ideal for those who relish dining in an exotic tropical fashion. The establishment also caters for private and corporate functions and for couples who fancy an intimate wedding reception, both upper and lower lofts present an excellent venue with a combined seating capacity of 150.
